Response to Tyler Jones (Week 9)
I did not like the 'isms' that Tyler chose because I found them boring, but I can see where he is coming from. The writing pieces in those 'isms' where more informational and straight to the point, whereas I like more poetry-based writing pieces.
Response to Leigh Welch (Week 9)
I also read "The Kiss" and I really liked it for the same reasons as Leigh. I thought it was especially funny when the bride asks the man to be her lover and he rejects her by saying that he has given up kissing women because it is 'dangerous'.

Week 10
What author might I use for my author study?
The author I might choose for my author study is Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. The reason why I chose Atwater-Rhodes is because her books vary so much in content and they are fun reads. They also have many different 'moods' in them, fear, love, hate, excitement, pain, the are just very realistic while still being fictitious. The genres that Amelia Atwater-Rhodes writes in include contemporary, science fiction, paranormal, and young adult.

Week 9 Blog Post
Which writing(s) from which "ism" or era did I like, and why?
The writing I liked the most was Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe from the Romanticism era. The reason why I liked this poem more than the other pieces was because it was so sweet and melancholy. I also liked how much emotion was packed into it and how Poe made it seem like you can hear him reciting the poem to you. There are parts where Poe used punctuation to emphasize the line; the one I enjoyed most was when he used paretheses in this verse of the poem;

"Yes! - that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee."
It seems like he was rushng to get to the point and I can almost hear him saying it in a 'you-should-already-know-this' kind of way. I also love the description of his love for her. My favorite parts were the last two verses because they really show how badly he misses her and loves her. It also makes me wonder if maybe he killed himself at her tomb, sort of like William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
After reading Annabel Lee a few times I went through a few more poems by Edgar Allan Poe and noticed that he seems to have a common feeling throughout his poetry, it is almost like looking back upon a bittersweet memory. What I also liked about Edgar Allan Poe's poetry is that it is like a window into his disturbingly beautiful mind. I look forward to reading more of his work.
