The writing I liked the most was Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe from the Romanticism era. The reason why I liked this poem more than the other pieces was because it was so sweet and melancholy. I also liked how much emotion was packed into it and how Poe made it seem like you can hear him reciting the poem to you. There are parts where Poe used punctuation to emphasize the line; the one I enjoyed most was when he used paretheses in this verse of the poem;
"Yes! - that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee."
It seems like he was rushng to get to the point and I can almost hear him saying it in a 'you-should-already-know-this' kind of way. I also love the description of his love for her. My favorite parts were the last two verses because they really show how badly he misses her and loves her. It also makes me wonder if maybe he killed himself at her tomb, sort of like William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
After reading Annabel Lee a few times I went through a few more poems by Edgar Allan Poe and noticed that he seems to have a common feeling throughout his poetry, it is almost like looking back upon a bittersweet memory. What I also liked about Edgar Allan Poe's poetry is that it is like a window into his disturbingly beautiful mind. I look forward to reading more of his work.
I didnt read that pome but I like it when you can hear the author rading the pome. I like pomes too. The story i found the most intresting was the Kiss. In the realism ism. I like how you connected Shakespeare with Poe.
ReplyDeleteI also chose the era Romanticism. I did not read the poem "AnnaBel Lee" by Edgar Allen Poe but instead read the poem Kentucky Belle by Constance Fenimore Woolson. I can relate to you because I also like when you can almost picture or hear the author reading their work to you and when you can feel the emotion in the piece of work it makes the story almost relatable or like your actually apart of it. That is the type of stories I personally like.
